Appalacian Soul

The sun was setting on the painted autumn landscape in the mountains, and my hand was in Jeremy's as we rode along. Over the weekend, my heavy metal taste had been softened by the southern gothic playlist I created for the occasion. We had just laid my aunt to rest on the hillside in McCreary county the day before... and I was on my way home feeling closer to my cousins than ever. This is the gift she gave my newfound appalacian soul. Now I can breathe just a little easier knowing that comfort waits for me in the hills when I visit again.
